Sun Tutorial

Sun Tutorial is situated at No 20 on Koodapakam Main Road in Villianur. This part of Pondicherry has a bit more of a relaxed feel than the main city area. The road is wide enough, and there’s usually some space for students to park their bicycles outside. The building we are in is quite plain, just a standard concrete structure. Inside, the rooms are divided by simple partitions. We have enough benches for everyone, though sometimes it feels a bit cramped when the bigger classes are in session. We don’t have air conditioning, so we rely on the ceiling fans, which we keep on high speed most of the day. The sound of the fans is a constant background noise here. We usually arrive early to open the shutters and sweep the front area. There’s a small tea shop nearby where we usually get our snacks in the evening. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t use any complicated technology, just pens, paper, and the chalkboards on the walls. Most of the people who come to us are from the surrounding villages or the Villianur neighborhood itself. It’s a very straightforward place without any bells or whistles. We just provide a space for people to sit and learn without any extra fuss. That’s how we like to keep it. We just do our work and go home when the sun goes down.
