Srivasan Badminton Academy

Down in Verkkadu Village, at 11/513 Sawndiyed, you'll find Srivasan Badminton Academy. It’s a bit out of the way if you're coming from the main parts of Kumudipundi, but that’s why we like it here. There's plenty of space and it's not as crowded as the city gyms. We built this because there wasn't a proper place for people in the village to play badminton. The roof is high and we have the courts marked out clearly. It gets a little hot during the day, but we have some ventilation. It’s a basic setup. We don't have air conditioning or fancy locker rooms. There’s a place to change and a spot to leave your bags. Most of the people who come here are from around Verkkadu. They show up with their rackets, play for an hour or two, and then head home. I’m usually there making sure the nets are tight and the floor is clean. It’s a lot of work keeping the dust out because of the open surroundings. We don't do much advertising. People just know we are here at 11/513. It’s a good spot for a game after work. Sometimes the local kids come by just to watch and end up picking up a racket themselves. It's just a simple place for the sport, nothing more, nothing less.
