Sri Ganesh Rice Mill

Our rice mill, Sri Ganesh Rice Mill, is at number 8 on the Villupuram Main Road. We are specifically located on Mettustreet in Villianur. If you are driving down the main road, you can usually hear us before you see us. Rice mills are loud places, and there is always a low hum of machinery in the air. The smell of raw grain is everywhere. We spend most of our time covered in a thin layer of dust from the husks. It’s just part of the life. Mettustreet is a busy little place with lots of trucks coming in to drop off paddy. We have to manage the space carefully so we don’t block the whole street. The mill has been here for years. The walls are a bit stained from the weather, and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard. We just put a bucket under it and keep going. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s where we work every day. My brother and I run things mostly. We have a few workers who have been with us since the beginning. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. People in Villianur know where we are. They bring their grain, and we process it. It’s basic work, but it’s important. The sun sets right behind the mill, and that’s usually when we start cleaning up the yard. We close up when the last truck leaves for the night.
