Zion School

Zion School is situated at 146, right near the Sabji Mandi and Ghanta Ghar Chowk on Zero Road in Allahabad City. This is a very lively and crowded part of town, so there is never a dull moment around here. The school is right in the middle of the market buzz, which means there are always people moving about and vendors shouting outside. It’s a modest building that fits right into the local streetscape. Being so close to the clock tower means everyone knows the location. Inside, the rooms are a bit tight because of the limited space in this part of the city, but we make it work. The children come from the families living in these busy lanes. We have a regular routine that we follow every day, starting with the morning assembly. The noise from the vegetable market carries into the classrooms sometimes, but we’ve all learned to speak a little louder to be heard. We don't have a big field for sports, so the kids usually play in the small courtyard or inside the halls. It’s an old-fashioned kind of school where everyone knows everyone else. The stairs are narrow and a bit steep, and the paint is peeling in a few places, but it feels like a home. It’s a simple school serving a very busy neighborhood.
