Our office is set up at Ganga Prasad Pandey’s place, over at number 92 in Gulchapa, Chandopara. It’s in the Phulpur area of Allahabad, which is now called Prayagraj, but many of us still say Allahabad. Phoolpur Javik Producer Company Limited is all about the javik or organic side of farming. We are tucked away in the village, so it’s a very local feel. There isn't a big sign or a lobby. It’s more like a home office where we gather to talk about the organic produce. We work with the farmers around Chandopara to manage how things are grown and sold. The roads out here can be a bit rough after the monsoon, but we make it work. We aren't trying to be some giant corporation. We just want to help the local producers get their organic stuff to the market. Being at a person's house makes the business feel more like a community thing than a cold office. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the soil and the crops. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. The address 92 Gulchapa is where the paperwork happens and where we plan the next season. We don't have fancy titles or anything. Everyone just pitches in to help out with whatever needs doing at the time. It’s honest work in a quiet part of the district.
