Omkrishak Producer Company Limited is located at 952 Muthi Ganj in Allahabad. Now, Muthi Ganj is an old, busy part of the city. You have all these narrow lanes and shops packed together. It’s not where you’d expect a farming company to be, but it works for us because it’s central. We spend our days coordinating with farmers who come in from the rural areas outside the city. It’s a bit of a trek for them, but this is where the business happens. Our office is usually full of people coming in to check on their payments or to ask about seed prices. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that; we just leave the door open and have a few fans going. It gets loud with the traffic outside, but you get used to it after a while. We aren't some big outfit with a marketing department. It’s just us and a couple of computers. We try to keep track of what the krishaks are growing and help them find buyers who won't rip them off. It’s a lot of phone calls and scribbling notes in ledgers. Sometimes the rain messes up the schedules and everything gets delayed. We just tell people to be patient. It’s a practical business run by people who grew up here. We know the families and we know the land. That's how we operate every single day.
