We operate out of Asawar village in the Barachawar area of Mohhamdabad. You can find us at Arvind Kumar’s house. This whole thing started because a few of us farmers realized we were facing the same problems every single year. We grow the usual crops that you see around this part of the country. It’s not an easy life, but it’s what we know. We aren't some big corporation with employees in suits. We are just neighbors who see each other at the market and in the fields. The office at Arvind’s place is pretty simple. We mostly just sit around and figure out how to get better seeds or where to sell our grain so we don't lose money. There is a lot of noise from the village, dogs barking and tractors going by, while we try to keep our records straight. We aren't very good with the computer stuff yet, but we’re learning. It’s important for us to stick together so the smaller farmers don’t get pushed around. We know every path and every field in Asawar. We don’t have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to see everyone get a decent return for their labor. It’s about the soil and the hard work we put in from morning until night. We’re just local people trying to make things work without too much fuss or any fancy talk.
