Gouri Beauty Parlour & Training Centre

Gouri Beauty Parlour & Training Centre is right at the Bairahana Chauraha on the main road in Allahabad. It is a very busy spot because of the four-way crossing, so there is always a lot of traffic and people walking by. Besides doing regular beauty work like facials and hair, we also teach girls how to do this job. We have some stools set up in the back for the students. They watch us work and then they practice on each other or on some props. It gets a bit chaotic sometimes with so many people in a small space, but we manage. The main road in Bairhana is always loud, so we have to speak up to be heard over the car horns. We have several mirrors and some old hair dryers that still work great. Allahabad gets very humid, so we are constantly cleaning the floor to keep it from getting slippery or dirty. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just put a board outside and people come in when they see it. Some students come from far away to learn the trade so they can open their own shops one day. We feel good about helping them out. It is a busy life here at the Chauraha, and there is never a dull moment from the time we open until we finally close up and go home to our families in Uttar Pradesh.
