Down in Koraon, things move a bit slow and that is how we like it. We set up Au Koraon Farmer Producer Company Limited at House Number 110 in the Pachawah area. Khajuri is where most of us have our land. Allahabad is a long way off when you are trying to move a truck full of grain, so we figured working together was the only way. The office isn't much to look at, just a quiet spot where we keep our registers and talk about the market prices. Most days, one of us is there making sure the records are straight. We deal with whatever the season throws at us, whether it is too much rain or the pumps breaking down. It is a lot of work coordinating with all the different farmers in the village, but it beats trying to bargain with the middleman on your own. We don't have a big staff, just local people who know the soil here. Sometimes we sit out front when the weather is nice and just discuss the next planting cycle. We aren't trying to be some big business, just trying to make sure our hard work in the fields doesn't go to waste. It’s a bit dusty here in the summer but the land is good to us if we treat it right.
