Varmandal Farmers Producer Company Limited is based right here in our village. We’re in Ward 06, and you can find us by asking for Bhanwar Lal Suthar’s place. It’s a quiet part of Chittorgarh, mostly fields and small houses. We decided to form this company because doing everything alone was getting too expensive for the local farmers. Now, we try to buy things in bulk and help each other out with the selling part. It’s a simple idea but it takes a lot of effort to keep it running. We aren't corporate people with suits and ties. Most of the time we have dirt on our boots from being out in Varmandal. The paperwork is probably the hardest part for us. We’d rather be out looking at the crops than sitting in a small room doing filing. But it has to be done. Rajasthan can be a tough place to farm because of the water situation. We talk about that a lot during our meetings. We are just a bunch of neighbors trying to make a living. There aren't any big secrets to what we do.
