Pratapgarh Kisan Producer Company Limited

Pratapgarh Kisan Producer Company is located in a village called Barhoopur. We’re set up at Harendra Bahadur Singh’s place. Being in a village like this, everyone knows everyone else, so we don't need much in the way of signs. It makes the work feel more like a community project than a company. We started this to help the farmers around Pratapgarh get a better deal for what they grow. There’s no big signage or glass doors to walk through. You just walk in and someone will be there to talk. We deal with a lot of different crops depending on the time of year. Some days we’re out in the fields, and other days we’re sitting around a wooden table trying to figure out the transport for the next load. It’s a bit informal, maybe, but it works for us and the people we know. We don’t like the corporate way of doing things. We prefer to talk face-to-face over a cup of tea. The village life is slow but steady, and we like it that way. We handle everything from buying seeds to selling the harvest. It’s a lot of physical work and a bit of worrying about the rain, but that’s farming for you. We just want to make sure the people in Barhoopur and the rest of Pratapgarh have a fair shot at making a living from their land. That's the whole story really, just farmers working together in our own way.
