Andaman Padmini Travels is located right by Carbyns Cove in Shadipur. Being near the beach means we can always hear the ocean and feel the breeze, which is one of the better parts of working here. The address is pretty easy to remember since Carbyns Cove Beach is such a well-known spot in Port Blair. Our office is a simple one. We have a lot of sand that gets tracked in, no matter how much we sweep the floor. The salt in the air sometimes makes the metal parts of our desks a bit rusty, but that’s just life by the sea. We get a lot of people passing by because of the beach, so it’s rarely quiet around here. We have a few chairs and a desk where we handle all the paperwork. Most of our day is spent talking to people or checking schedules. It’s a small operation, so you’ll usually find the same one or two people here every time you visit. We don’t have any fancy decorations, just some local maps and a clock that’s usually a few minutes fast. Sometimes we take a break and just look at the water for a minute before getting back to the computer. It’s a practical place to work, even if the humidity makes the paper feel a bit damp sometimes. We just keep at it.
