We have our shop on J N Road in Goalghar. The exact address is 144/4, Shop No 3. It’s a central spot in Port Blair, so it’s easy for people to find us. Goalghar is always a bit noisy with traffic, but it’s a good place to be for this kind of work. The office isn't very large, but it fits everything we need like the computers and the filing cabinets. We mostly spend our time talking to hotel managers and boat captains. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of organizing and re-organizing. Things in the Andamans don't always go according to the plan on paper because of the weather or the tides. We have to be flexible. If a ferry is cancelled, we spend the whole afternoon on the phone trying to find another way for people to travel. It’s a lot of manual work. We don’t use any fancy systems, just our own lists and the contacts we’ve made over the years living here. Most of the staff grew up around these islands, so we know which roads are bumpy and which beaches are actually worth the drive. We don't do much advertising; most people find us because they are staying nearby or someone told them to come to Goalghar. We just sit here, drink our tea, and make sure the bookings are sorted for the next day. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local scene.
