Arugan Women Farmers Producer Companylimited

Our group is based out of the Block Development Office area on Kolathumettu Street. Arugan is basically a bunch of women from around Karikkalampakkam who decided to join forces. We are all farmers, or at least we grew up on farms, so we know how it goes with the seasons. It isn't a fancy setup by any means. We meet in a small office to talk about our crops and what prices are looking like. Being a producer company is mostly about helping each other out instead of trying to survive alone. There is a lot of talking and planning involved. Sometimes meetings happen under the trees when the office gets too stuffy in the heat. We don't have money for big ads or anything like that, so we just focus on what we grow. Pondicherry has decent soil if you know what to do with it. Most of us have been doing this work since we were kids. We share tools and give advice when someone’s crop isn't doing well. It’s more like a neighborhood thing than a real corporation. If you walk down Kolathumettu Street, you’ll probably see us busy with something, like sorting through seeds or checking the logs. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just making sure our families are okay and the farms keep running year after year without too much trouble.
