Whitebutton Cultivation Farm Private Limited is a small operation run out of Nisarpuratola-Amarpura in Naubatpur. Smt. Chandrawati Devi is the one who keeps everything running and handles the paperwork. We mostly focus on growing button mushrooms, which is why we picked the name for the company. It’s a bit different from the usual crops around here, so there was a lot to learn when we first started the farm. We don’t have a massive facility or anything like that. It’s a very hands-on job and we do most of the work ourselves every single day. We aren't some big food company from the city with a lot of money. We are just local people trying out something new on our land. The building where we grow things is pretty basic, but it gets the job done for the mushrooms. We spend a lot of time making sure the temperature and the compost are just right. It’s a lot more sensitive than growing wheat or rice like the neighbors do. We have had our share of mistakes and bad batches over the years, but that’s how you learn. We just wanted to do something that could provide a steady income for the family. We aren't interested in fancy marketing or big slogans. We just want to produce something good that people in the area want to buy. It’s quiet work, and we like it that way.
