Our little office is located in Mahishi Dih which is part of the Bibhutipur area. If you are coming from Kalyanpur you have to take the via route to get to us here at Po-Mahishi. We are a group of farmers who decided it was better to work together than to try and do everything alone. It is not always easy because the weather does not always cooperate and sometimes the prices for what we grow are not very good. Still we keep at it every day because that is what we know how to do. The building we use is pretty basic and we spend most of our time out in the fields anyway. We do not have any big corporate goals or anything fancy like that. We just want to make sure that the people in our village can get a fair deal for their hard work. You might see us sitting outside the post office talking about the rain or the next harvest. It is a simple life and we are okay with that. Most of the members are neighbors who have known each other for years so there is a lot of trust involved in how we run things. We do our own bookkeeping and manage the storage ourselves too. It is a lot of work but it feels right to be doing it for our own community here in Mahishi and Bibhutipur.
