Shankar Galla Bhandar

We are located in the Shanker Shopping Center, right near the Patna Railway Station in the Kankarbagh area. It is a very busy spot. You can hear the trains coming and going all day long, and the station announcements sometimes drift over to us. We are in the Hanuman Nagar part of the neighborhood, near the LIG flats. The shop is usually full of goods, from floor to ceiling. We sell a bit of everything that people need for their daily cooking. It is a lot of heavy lifting, moving sacks of grain and pulses around. The shopping center itself has seen better days, but it is always active. We have a lot of regulars who come in from the nearby houses in Kankarbagh. They know where we are and what we have. We spend our time weighing out items and chatting with the people who stop by. It is not a quiet job by any means. There is always the sound of traffic and people shouting outside. We keep our ledgers by hand and try to stay on top of the stock. When the monsoon comes, we have to be careful about the damp, but otherwise, it is just the same routine every week. We open early and close late, making sure we are here when people need to pick something up on their way home from the station. It is a simple life, just running the bhandar.
