Patliputra Farmers Producer Companylimited is situated in Baghakol village. We fall under the Bikram police station area and our post comes through Patut. It is a rural part of the region and we like it that way. We are a group of farmers who decided to pool our resources. There is no corporate ladder here, just a bunch of guys who know how to farm. We meet up in Baghakol to discuss what we are going to do for the next season. Being in Bikram means we are close to the local markets but far enough away to have our peace. The work is never really finished. There is always something to fix or a field to check on. We started this company to make it easier to buy supplies and sell what we grow. It’s a very practical arrangement. We don’t have any fancy slogans. We just want to make sure that the people in Baghakol and Patut can keep their farms running. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to work by candlelight to get the books finished. It’s not perfect but it’s our life. We know the land here and we know the people. That is enough for us. If you come by the village, you will see us out there in the dirt. We are just a local company doing what we have always done.
