Our group is called Parshuram Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited and we are located in Sulempurpersawa. You can find us at Vinod’s place, as he is the one who helps keep everything together. We are just a group of local farmers who wanted to make sure we were getting a fair deal for our work. In a small village like Sulempurpersawa, everyone knows everyone, so it made sense to start this company. We grow all sorts of things depending on what the season is. We aren't some big business from the city. We live right here and work the same land our families have had for years. It’s a lot of physical labor and the hours are long, especially during harvest time. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to grow good crops and sell them for enough to keep going. Sometimes we meet up at Vinod’s house to talk about the price of diesel or which crops are looking the best in the fields. It’s very informal and we like it that way. If someone needs help with their tractor or has a question about a pest, there is always someone around to ask. We just try to look out for each other and keep the farming tradition alive in our little corner of the world without making things too complicated. Most of the time we are just worried about the rain or the bugs, but having the company helps us stay a bit more organized than before.
