Mksri Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Amnour in the Chapra area. We are just a bunch of local farmers from Saran who decided to work together instead of going it alone. Farming around here can be a bit of a gamble. Some years you get a great harvest and other years the floods or the dry spells just ruin everything. We wanted to have a company so we could buy things in bulk and maybe get a better price when we sell our grain. It’s a very local thing. We all live close to each other in Amnour and see each other every day at the market or just walking down the road. There’s no big office with a secretary. We usually just meet up wherever is convenient to discuss what needs to be done next. It’s a lot of talk about seeds, weather, and tractors. We try to help each other out when someone’s equipment breaks down. That’s just how things are in Chapra. We don’t use any of those big corporate words because they don’t really mean much to us. We’re just focused on the dirt and the plants. It’s a quiet life, mostly, until it’s time to harvest, then everyone is busy from dawn until way past dark. We’re just trying to keep our farms going for the next generation.
