Being over here on the first floor of Vindhyachal Bhawan in Bhopal is something else. We are tucked away in C Wing and the walk up the stairs usually wakes us up better than the morning tea does. P K Keshava is the one usually handling the procurement side of things for the SPMG project while the rest of us try to keep the paperwork moving along. It is a big building and sometimes it feels like a maze if you don't know which turn to take at the landing. The windows look out over the city and you can see the weather changing before it actually hits us. We spend a lot of time looking at spreadsheets and talking to vendors about what we need for the project. The desks are always covered in various bits of paper and half-empty water bottles. It gets pretty loud when everyone is on the phone at the same time but we are used to the noise by now. We don't have a fancy lounge or anything like that so we just chat near the water cooler when we need a break. Sometimes the elevator breaks down and everyone has to crowd onto the stairs which makes for a slow morning. We just try to stay on top of the tasks coming from the main offices. It is mostly just a regular day of checking lists and making sure the supplies are where they should be for the department.
