Korthu Farmer Producer Company Limited

We’re based out in Korthu, which is in the Benipur area of Darbhanga. You can find us at Deepak Kumar Thakur’s place, at number 13. It’s just a small group of us farmers who finally decided to team up and work as one. We’ve been living in Darbhanga our whole lives, so we know the land and the rivers pretty well. There’s no big office with computers everywhere or people in ties. It’s mostly just notebooks, pens, and people talking over cups of tea in the evening. We spend a lot of time worrying about the rains because that’s how it is in this part of Bihar. When we aren't out in the fields, we're trying to figure out the best way to move our produce to the market. It’s a simple setup we’ve got. We don’t go in for big speeches or polished advertisements. We’re just local people trying to keep things going for our families. Sometimes the roads are in bad shape and getting things to the city is a real headache. But we deal with it because we have to. Everyone in Benipur knows how it goes. You have good years and you have bad years. We just try to stick together so the bad years aren't quite as tough on everyone. We've got a lot of respect for the soil here. It’s what we have. We keep the place running as best as we can without making any kind of fuss. If you’re ever in Korthu, you’ll see us.
