Kawakol Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in Nawada and our office is at the home of Pappu Mahato who is Ganesh Mahato’s son. The village is called Dewangarh in the Gurighat area. It is a very rural spot and you have to drive down some bumpy roads to get to us. We are a farmer producer company which basically means we are a group of neighbors trying to help each other out. Pappu’s house is where we meet and keep all our stuff. There are no fancy desks or swivel chairs here. We usually just sit on plastic chairs in the courtyard. The farmers from around Dewangarh come by to talk about their crops and how they can get a better price at the mandi. It is a very simple life and we don't have much in the way of technology. We write things down in big ledgers and hope the rain comes at the right time. Most of us have our own fields to look after as well so the office isn't always open at regular hours. If someone is there they will help you. We don't have any big goals of becoming a huge corporation. We just want to make sure the people in Gurighat can keep their farms going. It’s hard work and the sun is hot but we are used to it by now. We just keep moving forward one day at a time without much fuss.
