Kashibigha Farmer Producer Company Limited

Over in Sheikhpura, specifically in the little area of Kashibigha, we’ve been farming for as long as anyone can remember. Kashibigha Farmer Producer Company Limited is our way of sticking together. Binod Kumar is the one we go to when we need to sort things out. We’re based out of Jagdishpur in Barbigha, which is a place where most families have a bit of land. It’s not a huge operation with fancy machines. Most of what we do is still done by hand or with older tools. We formed this group because we were tired of being the last ones to know anything about market prices. Now we talk to each other more. We share what we know about the soil and the pests that keep eating the crops. It’s a lot of sitting around on porches talking after the sun goes down. The village is quiet, and that’s how we like it. We aren't looking to expand across the whole country or anything. We just want the farmers here in Kashibigha to have a better chance of making a decent living. It’s tough when the seasons don't go your way, but having the company makes it feel a bit more stable. We just take it one day at a time, looking at the sky and hoping for the right amount of rain.
