International Makhana Centre

International Makhana Centre is based in the Patliputra Industrial Area at plot number 23/24. Satyajit Kumar is the one who handles the day-to-day things here. Being in an industrial area means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories. There is always the sound of machinery in the background, which you eventually stop noticing. We work with makhana, so the place usually smells a bit like toasted seeds. It’s a lot of manual work, sorting through the makhana and getting it ready for wherever it needs to go next. We don't have any polished marketing materials or a dedicated sales team. Most of our work happens right here on the floor of the unit. The space is large and open, which helps when we have a lot of stock coming in at once. It gets quite cold in the winter and very hot in the summer because of the high ceilings. We have a small area where we sit down for lunch. Usually, we just bring something from home. It’s a practical environment for practical people. We don’t spend time on things that don’t matter to the work. We just show up, do the sorting, and make sure everything is packed up right. Satyajit is pretty hands-on and is usually right there with us. It’s a busy place but we like the pace of it.
