Glazed Fertile Producer Company Limited is located over at House Number 102 in the village of Panchsahebnagar. This is Md Guljar’s place, and it’s right in the middle of the Mansahi block. Things move a bit slower out here, which is fine by us. We mostly work with the farmers from the surrounding Tola to get their produce sorted and ready for the market. It’s a simple operation really, focusing on the fertile land we have in this part of Katihar. The office is basically just a room where we keep our logs and meet with people who drop by to talk about their crops. Sometimes the power goes out for a few hours, so we just sit outside and finish our conversations there. We handle a lot of different seeds and fertilizers, trying to figure out what works best for the soil in Mansahi. It is not always easy, especially when the market prices fluctuate, but the local guys are used to it. We keep our overhead low so we can focus on the actual work that needs doing in the fields. Md Guljar is usually around if anyone needs to sign something or ask a question about the latest government rules for farmer groups. It is a local business through and through, run by people who live right here in the village and understand how the seasons work.
