Our company is set up in Village Bhuara, which is right near Dehri On Sone in the Rohtas district. It’s a group of us local farmers who wanted to work together instead of everyone doing their own thing separately. We’re right by the Sone river, and that river is a big part of life for everyone in this village. We don’t have any fancy branding or a marketing department. It’s just us and the land. Most days we are out in the sun, making sure the crops are growing like they should be. It’s hard work and it’s often very hot, but we don't complain much. We meet up in the village to talk about what needs to be done next and how to share the tools we have. We aren’t trying to be some big corporate entity or anything like that. We just want to make a decent living from what we grow. Sometimes we have problems with the old machinery or the weather turns bad suddenly, and we just have to figure it out as we go. There’s no handbook for this kind of thing. We’ve all learned from our fathers and grandfathers who farmed this same dirt. Rohtas is a good place for farming if you’re willing to put in the long hours. We aren’t looking for any kind of attention. We just want to get the work done and go home to our families at night. If you pass through Bhuara, you’ll see our fields and our houses. It’s a simple way to live.
