If you come down to Saidpura Bakadh in Patepur, you’ll find us working away. Buddotsav Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just us farmers trying to get organized. Shyam Kishor Thakur has been helping out a lot, and that’s where we keep our records and meet up. Vaishali is a good place for farming, but it isn’t always easy. We have to deal with the weather and the prices that change every single day at the market. Most of us have been doing this since we were kids, learning from our fathers and grandfathers. We didn't want to just be solo farmers anymore because it's hard to get anything done on your own these days. So we put this company together. It’s not some big flashy thing. It’s just a way for us to pool what we have. Sometimes we sit in the village and talk for hours about which crops are doing well and which ones are failing. It’s practical work. No one here wears a suit. We wear what we wear to work in the dirt. We’re just trying to make a living in Saidpura. Some days are long and the sun is really bright, but we get through it. We focus on what’s right in front of us, which is the land and the crops we’re trying to grow this season.
