Patan Agroforestry Producer Company is located in Lukhasan village, which is part of the Sidhpur taluka. Chaudhari Kamrajbhai Daljibhai is the main contact person here, and he looks after the operations from his place in the village. Our focus is on agroforestry, which is just a way of saying we grow trees and crops together on the same land. It’s something we’ve been trying to do more of in this part of Patan lately. The group started because we wanted to share our knowledge and resources instead of working alone. It’s a bit quiet out here in the village, which is how we like it. Most of the work happens outside, not in a cramped office. We help each other with planting and figuring out which trees grow best with which crops. It’s a slow process, growing trees, so you have to be very patient with the results. We aren't looking for quick profits. It’s more about making sure the land stays good for a long time. Kamrajbhai handles a lot of the coordination and paperwork. Sometimes we meet up to talk about new techniques we’ve heard about from other areas. It’s very informal. We don’t wear suits or have big presentations. We just sit together and talk. Dealing with the government rules for producer companies is probably the hardest part of the job. But we stick with it because it helps the whole village. Sidhpur has good soil if you treat it right.
