Our place is right above the Bank of Baroda in Becharaji. It’s a convenient spot because everyone knows where the bank is, so we never have to give long directions. We started this farmer producer company because there were enough of us who wanted to work together instead of everyone doing their own thing separately. We’re in the Mahesana area, so agriculture is pretty much the main thing everyone talks about at the tea stalls. Most days, someone is coming up the stairs to talk about seeds or the rain or what’s happening in the market this week. It’s not a quiet office, but it’s a useful one for the community. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just have a few desks, some chairs, and a lot of paperwork to keep track of for the members. Everyone here is from around the area, so we know the local land and the real problems people face. It’s about sticking together and making sure things are fair for the farmers who do the hard work. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise and the records get piled up on the table, but we know where everything is. We don’t need anything fancy to do our jobs. We just focus on the basics and try to be there when someone has a question about their crops. It’s a simple setup, but it works for what we need to do here in Becharaji.
