Midnapore is where we are, specifically the West Bengal side. It’s a busy department with a lot of dust and old maps. The mining section has its own feel compared to the rest of the campus. We spend most of our days dealing with rocks and technical data. It’s not the most glamorous work, but it’s what we do. The office is tucked away, so sometimes people get lost looking for Dr. Pal’s area. We’ve got a few old desks and lots of paperwork stacked up. It feels like a real workspace, not one of those shiny new offices. The local area in Midnapore is quiet enough, though the campus itself stays active. We’ve been part of this department for quite some time now. Most of the staff here just want to get the research finished. We drink a lot of tea while we work. It’s a practical environment. No one here wears fancy suits. We just wear what's comfortable for the lab or the field. It’s just how things are run around here in the mining wing. We just keep at it every day, making sure the measurements are right. It’s simple work but it takes time. No shortcuts.
