Vanumoti D.El.Ed College

The college is located in Village Makarda which is under the Pingla Police Station in the Paschim Medinipur district. It is quite a journey to get out here if you are coming from the main part of Kolkata but we are used to the commute. The area is very rural and surrounded by fields and small village houses. Our building is a simple structure that stands out a bit because it is one of the larger ones in the immediate area. We train people to become teachers here so there is always a lot of discussion about lesson plans and classroom management. The atmosphere is very quiet compared to the city which is nice for studying I suppose. We have a small library and some basic classrooms where the students gather. Life in Makarda is slow and we follow the rhythm of the seasons. When it rains heavily the roads can get a bit muddy and it makes getting to the college a bit of a challenge. We don't have any high-tech facilities but we have enough for the students to learn what they need. Most of the staff and students come from the nearby villages and we all know each other well. It is just a modest place where we focus on the work at hand. We spend our days in the classrooms and then head home before it gets too dark outside in the countryside.
