Deputy Manager

This office is part of the Ambuja Township over in Rabriyawas, which falls under the Jaitaran tehsil in the Pali district of Rajasthan. Living and working here means being part of the cement plant community. My role as Deputy Manager happens right here at house number 215, which is one of the Type IV quarters in the township. It is a very specific kind of life, surrounded by the industrial landscape and the dry heat of the Rajasthan desert. The township is its own little world, with the cement plant looming nearby and the staff all living in these numbered houses. My workspace is pretty functional, mostly just a desk, a computer, and plenty of room for all the manuals and reports I have to go through. The dust can be a bit of a challenge, but you get used to it after a week or two. We spend a lot of time coordinating with the different units of Ambuja Cements Ltd. It is not like a city office where you step out into a busy street. When I leave the house, I see my colleagues and their families. It’s a tight-knit environment. We focus on keeping the cement production side of things managed properly from an administrative level. It is quiet, practical, and very much centered on the work at hand in this industrial pocket of Pali.
