Yashashree Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by us women here in Vasai. Our address is H No 556 in Khanwidetal. We started this because we wanted to have our own identity in the farming world. It is a group effort from start to finish. We meet up at the house and figure out our plans for the month. Vasai has changed a lot lately, but we still focus on the land. We aren't a corporate entity with a lot of rules and regulations. We just follow what works for us in our situation. Most of us have children and households to run too, so we are always busy. We manage the company in between our other chores. It’s not always pretty or organized, but we get the job done. We don't use any marketing tricks or polished language. We are just real women working hard. We share our experiences and help each other with farming techniques. It’s a supportive environment for everyone. Sometimes the market prices are low and we worry about it, but we stay together. We don't have a big staff. It's just us doing the work ourselves. We are proud of what we’ve built so far. It’s a small step towards being independent for us. We just keep trying our best every single day despite the challenges we face.
