Our spot is Gala No 1 in the Maruti Industrial Estate. We’re out in Ghod Bhayander East, specifically the Kalyani Nagar side. Venchra Engineering Company isn't a massive operation. It’s a typical industrial gala where space is tight and every corner is filled with parts or tools. When the shutter goes up in the morning, the light hits the workbench and we start our day. There’s usually someone welding or grinding something, so there are sparks and a lot of noise. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We wear heavy boots and old shirts because everything gets covered in grease eventually. Being in Bhayander means we see a lot of rain during the monsoon, and the estate gets a bit muddy, but we keep working through it. We aren't big on speeches or fancy titles. We just look at the drawings, figure out how to make the piece, and get the machines running. Sometimes we sit on the plastic chairs outside for a break and watch the delivery trucks go by. It’s a straightforward way of working. We don't have a receptionist; if you come by, you’ll probably just find one of us with a wrench in hand. We just do the work that comes in and try to make sure it’s done right before the sun goes down. There is always plenty to do, so the days go by pretty fast for all of us.
