K C Metal Industries

K C Metal Industries is out in Palghar West, specifically in the Dewan & Sons Industrial Estate in Village Aliyali. It’s quite a trek from the main part of the city, but we like being out here where there’s more room to actually breathe and work. Our units, 13 and 14, are where all the heavy lifting and production happens. The air inside usually smells like hot metal and machine oil, which is just part of the job. We have a solid crew of workers who show up every morning, some coming from the nearby villages and others taking the train to the station. The industrial estate has a lot of movement, with trucks backing into the narrow lanes and the sound of hammers or presses echoing from all the different sheds. Our office is just a small cabin partitioned off from the main workshop, so we can see what’s going on with the machines at all times. It’s not a place for fancy clothes or polished shoes; you’re likely to get a bit of grease or dust on you just by walking in the door. We spend our time managing the production schedules and making sure the raw materials arrive when they are supposed to. Sometimes the power goes out, and everything goes quiet for a bit, which is when we all take a break. We focus on getting the metal shaped and shipped out without making any kind of big fuss.
