Swahit Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in the village of Andur in the Osmanabad taluka. Our office is actually at Bhalchandra Rupsen Patil’s place. It is a company run for and by women farmers in this area. We all know how hard the work is in the fields, especially around here where the rain can be unpredictable. We decided that if we joined up, we could handle the business side of farming better. We meet at the post in Andur to discuss what we need to buy or sell. It’s a very community-focused group. We aren't interested in being a big name; we just want to help the women in our village get a better deal for their hard work. Life in Osmanabad moves at its own pace, and we are fine with that. We talk about real things like crop prices and fertilizer costs while sitting on the porch. It’s not a formal boardroom, but it works for us. We are just trying to be self-reliant. Sometimes we make mistakes with the forms or the filing, but we learn as we go. It’s a very human way of running a business. We just care about our land and our neighbors. That’s why we started Swahit Mahila. It is about making sure our voices are heard while we keep our farms going for the next generation.
