Over in Omerga, in the Osmanabad district, you can find our place at H No B 158 & 157. We are Sushila & Suman Biotech Agro. It’s a family-style business, and we named it after important people in our lives. We work in the biotech and agro sector, which basically means we look at seeds and how to make crops grow better using some science. But don't let the biotech part make you think we are in a sterile lab all day. Most of our time is spent in the dusty fields of Makani and surrounding areas. We are locals who understand the challenges of farming in this part of Maharashtra. The soil can be tricky, and water is always a concern. We started this company to bring some modern ideas to our own community. The office is just a couple of houses joined together, so it’s got a very homey feel. We don't have a corporate culture; we just have a way of working that feels right to us. We talk to farmers every day, listening to their problems and seeing if our products can help. Sometimes we have long discussions over lunch about what to try next. We aren't a big multinational, just a local team trying to do something useful. It’s hard work, but we like the feeling of helping a neighbor get a better yield from their land. Omerga is a quiet town.
