Masalga Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based in Masalga, a quiet spot in the Nilanga area of Latur. We are called Masalga Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s not some big corporation with a fancy lobby. Our office is actually just at House Number 55, which is where Kishanrao Solunke lives. Most of us are neighbors who have been farming the same soil for decades. We deal with crops like tur and soy, which are common around here. Latur can get incredibly hot and dry, and that makes farming a real gamble every single year. We decided to register this company because we were tired of being pushed around by middle-men at the markets. Now we try to pool our harvest and buy our seeds together. It’s not always smooth sailing. Sometimes the paperwork for the government gets confusing and we spend hours just trying to fill out one form correctly. We meet up in the evenings after the sun goes down and the work in the fields is done. We sit on the porch at Kishanrao's place and talk about the upcoming season. It’s a very basic setup. We don't have a website or any glossy brochures. We just have our land and each other. We are just local people trying to make a living and keep our farms going. It’s hard work, but when we work as a group, it feels a bit more manageable than doing it all alone.
