Our place is right at House No. 92 in Padoli(A). If you come looking for Harisuman Agrotech Producer Company Limited, you just ask for Haribhau Dete’s house. Everyone in the village knows where it is. We started this because we figured it was better to work together than to try and sell everything on our own in Osmanabad. It gets really dry out here, so we spend a lot of our time talking about water and how to keep the plants alive. It's not like those big companies you see in the city. We’re just a bunch of farmers sitting around a porch or in the front room of the house, looking at notebooks and trying to figure out the prices. Sometimes the power goes out for hours, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. There’s always someone coming by with a tractor or a question about seeds. We don’t have fancy signs or anything like that. We just use what we have and hope for a decent harvest. My kids help out with the paperwork when they aren't at school. It’s a lot of manual labor and worrying about the clouds, but we’ve stayed here in Padoli for a long time. Harisuman Agrotech is basically just us trying to make a living without too much trouble. It's dusty, it's hot, and there's always something that needs fixing, but we’re used to it. We just want to keep things going.
