We’re tucked away in Mali Galli, at Home Number 18 in Mendha Ter, Osmanabad. It’s a traditional area, and our company is very much a part of the local community. We focus on vegetables because that’s what most of us grow in our small plots around here. Starting a producer company wasn't our first idea, but after seeing how much we were losing to middle-men at the market, we decided to give it a go. It’s not a fancy operation. Our office is basically a room in a house where we keep our registers and meet up in the evenings to talk. We deal with tomatoes, onions, leafy greens—whatever is in season. The challenge in Osmanabad is always the water, so we spend a lot of time talking about irrigation and how to keep the plants alive when the rains fail us. We’re just a group of local farmers trying to find a better way to sell what we work so hard to grow. We don’t have professional managers; we do it all ourselves, from the sorting to the transport. Sometimes we get the prices right, and sometimes we don’t. It’s a big learning curve for all of us. People in Mendha know where to find us if they have a surplus they need to move. We’re just trying to keep the tradition of farming alive while making it a bit more sustainable for the next generation. It’s humble work, but we’re proud.
