Uday Rice Traders

We are up on the 11th floor of the KLJ Tower in Netaji Subhash Place. It’s quite high up, in office 1100. Being in Pitampura means we are in a very busy part of the city. Uday Rice Traders is more of an office-based business compared to the big mills out in the country. We spend our time on the phones and the computer, coordinating between the suppliers and the buyers. It’s a lot of paperwork and tracking shipments. The office isn't very big, just a few desks, some chairs for visitors, and a small pantry for making tea and coffee. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have worked together for a long time. Even though we are in a modern building with elevators and glass windows, we still keep things simple. We don't use a lot of fancy business talk or big words. We just discuss prices and delivery dates. Sometimes the traffic in NSP is terrible, which makes it hard for people to visit us, so we do a lot over the phone. We’ve been here since the tower was relatively new. It’s a different world from the actual rice fields, but we know the product well. We don't have a marketing department. We just rely on the relationships we've built over the years. It’s a busy life, but we like being in the center of things. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
