Over at Richi Rich Banquet Pvt Ltd, things are usually either very quiet or incredibly loud. We are located in the Wazirpur Industrial Area, right on the Ring Road. It’s a bit of an odd spot for some people to find at first, but once you see that we are opposite Shalimar Bagh, it’s hard to miss. Since it’s an industrial zone, there’s always trucks and noise during the day. We spend a lot of our time setting up for events that happen in the evenings or on weekends. It involves a lot of moving heavy tables and dragging stacks of chairs across the floor. My back usually feels it by the end of the week. The hall is quite large, so it takes a lot of sweeping to get the dust out, especially with the road right there. When there’s a wedding or a big company party, the place transforms with all the lights and people in their best clothes, which is a big change from the usual grease and noise of Wazirpur. We don’t really bother with being corporate or polished; we just focus on getting the space ready and making sure there’s enough room for everyone to sit down. Sometimes the bookings are back to back and we’re cleaning up one mess while the next group is already pulling up in the parking lot. It’s just how it works here, constant motion and keeping track of the calendar.
