Hammad Akhter

We are out in the Surajpur Industrial Area at Site B, specifically at B 12/18. Hammad Akhter is the name we use on the paperwork. Being in Greater Noida, it feels a bit different than the inner city parts. It’s mostly factories and large warehouses around here, so there aren't many shops. Our spot isn't anything special to look at from the outside or inside. It’s just a workspace where we get things done during the day. The roads are wide but they get very dusty when the wind picks up in the afternoon. We spend most of the day inside dealing with the tasks at hand. There’s a lot of noise from the other industrial units nearby, mostly machines hum and trucks idling in the lanes. We have a small desk near the front for the files and the rest is just open work space. It’s very practical and basic. We don’t have customers walking in off the street because it’s an industrial zone, not a shopping area. It’s more about the work we send out to other places. The walls are a plain grey color and the floor is just hard concrete. We keep a small kettle for making tea in the corner when we have a break. Sometimes it gets a bit lonely out here away from the markets, but the space is good for what we need to do. We've been at B 12/18 for a bit now. It’s just a place of work, no frills or decorations at all. We focus on the daily output and making sure the site stays organized enough to function properly.
