Delhi Gift House

Ashok Vihar is where we set up Delhi Gift House, specifically over at J-99 on the ground floor. Being in Phase-1 means there is always someone walking by the window. The morning starts with clearing the dust off the glass counters. It’s a bit of a routine now. We’ve got all sorts of gifts sitting on the shelves, and some have been there longer than others. The ground floor location is nice because people don’t have to climb any stairs, which they seem to appreciate when they’re carrying heavy bags. The lighting inside could be better, we know that, but it does the job for now. Usually, the afternoons are quiet until the school kids and parents start showing up later on. We spend a lot of time just rearranging things so they fit. It’s not a big corporate operation, just a few of us making sure everything stays in order. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the front for a while, and we have to go out and talk to them to move. Ashok Vihar has a lot of energy. You see the same faces every week, which is the best part of being in this neighborhood. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. We just open up, sit behind the counter, and wait to see who comes through the door. If the tea is hot and the fan is working, it’s a good day for us.
