Britannia Industries Limited

Working here at 33 Lawrence Road is a bit of a daily grind. This is where a lot of the biscuits and snacks get handled for the area. Most people know the name Britannia, but for us, it’s just the place where we punch in every morning. The building is quite large and it’s been on Lawrence Road for a very long time. It feels like an old part of the industrial landscape here. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of conveyor belts and the smell of baking dough. It gets repetitive after a few hours, but we have a good group of people working the shifts. We spend a lot of time checking the packaging and making sure the boxes are stacked right so they don't fall over in the warehouse. There isn't much room for sitting down once the line starts moving. Sometimes the machines break down and we all have to wait around for the mechanics to fix things, which gives us a chance to chat. We don't really think about the big corporate stuff you see on TV. For us, it’s about making sure the trucks are loaded and out the gate on time. The tea stall across the street is where most of us head after the shift is done. It’s just a job like any other, getting the work done day in and day out at this Lawrence Road facility without much fuss or bother.
