Intercontinental The Grand Goa Resort

The Grand Goa Resort is located down in Canacona, specifically in the Sadolxem area. The address is a bit of a mouthful—Leo Calisto Barretto Muthal. It’s a quiet part of Goa, far away from the really crowded beaches up north. We have a lot of space here, and it’s mostly about keeping the gardens tidy and the rooms ready for guests. Working in a resort means there’s always something that needs fixing or cleaning. You might see us walking around the grounds checking on things. It’s a beautiful spot, but for us, it’s a workplace. We have people coming from all over the world, but we also have locals who work here every day. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, which is what you’d expect for this part of the coast. Canacona has a different feel than the rest of Goa, it's more slowed down. We try to keep the place running smoothly without making too much of a fuss. Sometimes the weather gets really intense during the monsoon, and we spend all our time keeping the water out. Other times, it’s just sunshine and quiet afternoons. It’s a big property to look after, but we’ve got a system. We don't talk much about luxury or anything like that; we just focus on making sure the beds are made and the food is ready. It's a lot of walking, but that's just part of the job here in Sadolxem.
