Eslinda Dsouza School

Our school is based at Vila Luiza in Miramar. It is a nice part of Goa, close to the water, though we spend most of our time inside the classrooms rather than at the beach. The building itself has that old Goa feel to it, which makes it a bit different from the modern concrete blocks you see elsewhere. We have been working with kids here for quite some time now. It’s a small operation. We know the names of all the students and usually their parents too. The mornings start with the sound of kids chatting and getting settled at their desks. We teach the usual subjects, trying to make sure everyone keeps up. It isn't always easy, and some days are more chaotic than others, especially when the weather is nice and everyone wants to be outside. We don't have a big staff, so everyone chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s fixing a broken chair or helping a child who scraped their knee. It’s a quiet life for the most part, focusing on the day-to-day work of running a school in a neighborhood like this. We just want the kids to learn what they need to and be decent people. There are no big speeches here, just the daily routine of lessons and lunch breaks. We have been part of the Miramar community for years and we like it that way. It's a simple, honest way to spend the day.
