You’ll find Vinod Metals at 4613 in Charkhewalan, right in the heart of Chawri Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how packed the streets are with people and carts. Our shop is old, and it’s filled with all kinds of metal sheets and rods. We mostly deal in copper and brass, though we have other things too if you look around. The shelves are sagging a bit under the weight of the inventory. It’s a family business, and I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. My father taught me how to tell the quality of a piece just by the weight and the sound it makes. We don't have a lot of space for customers to sit, so usually, they just stand in the doorway while we pull out what they need. It’s a lot of haggling and chatting, which is just the way things are done here. Sometimes the deliveries get stuck in the traffic for hours, but everyone understands. We don't use any big marketing tricks. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and see who comes by. It’s a dusty, noisy place, but there’s a lot of history in these walls. We’ve known the neighbors for decades. It’s not just a business for us; it’s our life and how we’ve always supported our families. The tea guy comes by at four, which is the best part of the day.
