Swadesh Automobiles

Swadesh Automobiles is located right in the Minerva Cinema Building over at Kashmere Gate. If you know this area, you know how hectic it gets with all the spare parts shops and the constant movement of people and goods. Being in such an old, well-known building means we have seen a lot of changes in the market over the years. Our space is usually packed with boxes and components because that’s the nature of the business here. There is always someone coming in or out, either a delivery guy or a mechanic looking for something specific. We have a small team here, and most of us have been working together for a long time, so we know where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit cluttered to an outsider. It’s noisy outside with the horns and the loaders, but inside we just focus on the task at hand. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. It’s a practical setup meant for work. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, or the rain makes the streets messy, but we keep the shutters open and keep moving. Most of our day is spent checking inventory or talking to people on the phone about what they need. We don't spend time on fancy brochures. We just try to make sure that when someone asks for a part, we can tell them honestly if it is on the shelf or not.
